Veterinary Specialist

A Veterinary Specialist is an advanced-level veterinary professional with focused expertise in a specific area such as surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, cardiology, oncology, or similar.

In Dubai, where veterinary care aligns with international standards and caters to a diverse population of pet owners, a veterinary specialist plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality, specialized animal healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat complex medical conditions within the area of specialization.

• Perform advanced procedures and surgeries beyond the scope of general veterinary practice.

• Collaborate with general veterinarians by offering consultations and second opinions.

• Interpret specialized diagnostic tests.

• Design and implement treatment plans for chronic, acute, or rare conditions.

• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with UAE veterinary regulations.

• Educate and mentor veterinary staff, interns, and support personnel.

• Contribute to continuing education and public awareness on animal health within the community.

• Ensure animal welfare standards are upheld according to Dubai Municipality and MOCCAE guidelines.

Requirements for the Role

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.

• Board certification or advanced qualification in a veterinary specialty (e.g., ACVS, ACVIM, ECVIM, etc.).

• Valid veterinary license to practice in Dubai (UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment license).

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the chosen specialty.

• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills in a referral or specialty hospital setting.

• Excellent communication skills for client interactions and inter-professional collaboration.

• Cultural sensitivity and adaptability, given Dubai’s multicultural population.

• Fluent in English (Arabic or other languages is a plus).
